I cant even began to describe how it was the day I started shipping Zutara but I do know that it happened in an instant. I remember sitting on the couch watching a rerun and the famous “I’ll save you from the pirates” scene happened and it was like an entire light blub went off, not only in my mind but in my sisters who was sitting there with me and suddenly we were both jumping around because we now shipped Zuko and Katara.

It was really that simple, suddenly we saw all the ways it worked, the opposites attract, fire and ice, star crossed lovers, every angle you could think of worked for this couple and we were entranced with the idea. We suddenly went from a passing interest in the show to full on lets watch every episode we’ve missed, then lets read a ton of fanfiction, then lets get on tv.com and be a huge part of the forum community there as we wait for the return of episodes in the spring.

Zutara was so easy to ship, and it really is sad that Mike and Byran chose not to go that route for their endgame pairings but just knowing it was an option is canon enough for me. I will happily go on waterbending my zutara ship along.
